As multicultural societies, the UAE and Malaysia share some similarities especially the values of tolerance and moderation and cultural diversity.

There is an existing joint cooperation in the cultural field between the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation and the Religious Affairs department in the State of Pahang since 1997, whereby the Khalifa Foundation sends Arabic and Islamic studies teachers to teach in schools under the purview of the Religious Affairs Department of the State of Pahang.

This collaboration benefits thousands of Malaysian students who specialize in Arabic Language and Islamic education to further their studies in Alazhar (Egypt) and Jordan.

There are also close ties between the UAE and Malaysia in the area of Public and cultural diplomacy. This has been manifested in the planting of a jujube or "bidara بذرة" sapling by His Majesty King Of Malaysia Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at the main square of the National Palace in the capital city Kuala Lumpur. The tree was a symbolic gift from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The tree-planting at the National Palace symbolizes the warm and close bilateral relations between Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates.

Malaysia is also an educational destination for UAE students pursuing their further studies in Malaysian Public & Private Institutes of Higher Learning specially in the fields of Management, Accounting and Law.
