H.E. DR. ALI OBAID ALI ALYABHOUNI ALDHAHERI, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Hellenic Republic, and Non-Resident Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Albania.
H.E. Dr. Ali Obaid Ali Alyabhouni Aldhaheri possesses extensive experience spanning the fields of diplomacy, energy, maritime transport, and international economic relations.
He began his professional career in 1992 as Head of the Industrial and Automotive Lubricants Section at ADNOC Distribution, before joining ADNOC Group’s Marketing and Refining Directorate in 1996. Between 1996 and 1998, he served as Crude Oil and Condensate Marketing Coordinator for the Pacific region, and from 1998 to 2007 he headed the Marketing Research and Analysis Department within ADNOC’s Marketing & Refining Directorate.
From 2001 to 2006, H.E. Dr. Aldhaheri represented the United Arab Emirates at OPEC as National Representative, before serving as UAE Governor for OPEC from 2006 to 2016.
In 2007, he was appointed Manager for Planning and Group Coordination at ADNOC, and later the same year assumed the role of General Manager of the National Gas Shipping Company Ltd. (NGSCO).
Between 2009 and 2015, he served as Chief Executive Officer of both Abu Dhabi National Tanker Company (ADNATCO) and National Gas Shipping Company Ltd. (NGSCO), overseeing major developments in the UAE’s maritime and energy transport sectors. From 2016 to 2017, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ruwais Fertilizer Industries (FERTIL).
In 2017, H.E. Dr. Aldhaheri was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the People’s Republic of China, a position he held until 2023. During this period, he also served as Non-Resident Ambassador to Mongolia from 2022 to 2023. In 2023, he was appointed Senior Advisor for International Relations in the Downstream Industry, Marketing & Trading Directorate at ADNOC Group, before assuming his current post in 2024 as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Hellenic Republic and Non-Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Albania.
H.E. Dr. Aldhaheri holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Southern Indiana in the United States of America (1992), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from South Eastern University in Washington, D.C. (1996), and a Doctorate in Maritime Law from the University of Tasmania in Australia (2012).
