Can I attest/legalise documents at the UAE Embassy in London?

The UAE Embassy in London provides attestation/legalisation service for documents issued by the following countries:

The United Arab Emirates
The United Kingdom (digital attestation)
Iceland (digital attestation)

In order to attest/legalise documents by the UAE Embassy in London, they must be attested/legalized first by their respective foreign office, as per the guidelines below:

UAE-issued documents: must be attested/legalized by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
UK-issued documents: must be attested/legalised by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
Iceland-issued documents: must be attested/legalised by the Icelandic foreign office.
British Overseas Territories issued documents: must be apostilled by the Government of the relevant Territory and attested/legalised attested by the Commonwealth and Overseas Development Office (FCDO).
Channel Islands and Crown Dependencies issued documents: must first be attested/legalised by their respective Foreign Office.

What type of documents does the UAE Embassy in London accept?

The UAE Embassy in London can attest/legalise all personal and commercial documents with the exception of commercial invoices & certificates of origins. These exceptions must be submitted through eDAS 2.0 on the MoFA website.
Official personal documents such as marriage, birth, and death certificates, etc. must be submitted in their original form for attestation.
All other documents, whether original or true copies, will be accepted, as long as the submitted document is attested/legalised by its respective foreign office.
Documents apostilled in a bundle are not accepted. They should be apostilled separately.
Power of attorney and similar legal documents must be signed in the presence of a UK solicitor or notary before being submitted to their respective foreign office.
A power of attorney containing any commercial content will be treated as a commercial document.
Memorandum and articles of association must be separately attested/legalised.
Laminated documents cannot be attested/legalised.

This service is offered through various UAE embassies around the world and applies to documents issued outside the UAE.

How to Apply:
Please note that the physical document will be required to issue the digital attestation.

1. Log in to the MoFA Website using UAE Pass – Select Attestation Service under the Services tab.
2. Select Country – Choose UK for documents issued outside the country.
3. Submit the Application – Complete the digital form and proceed to payment.
4. Documents Collection – A MoFA-approved service provider will contact you to pick up the original documents.
5. Digital Attestation Issued – You will receive an email with a copy of your document digitally attested by the UAE Embassy and by MOFA. This digital document is ready for use within UAE.
6. Documents Return – Your original documents will be returned to you via the service provider.

I’ve applied for attestation on the website, what are the next steps?

1. After completion of payment, you will receive an email from our service provider with an air way bill number and pick-up schedule. If the address is incomplete, they will contact you for the missing details.
2. You must print the air way bill, attach it to the documents, and ensure they are ready for collection by the courier partner.
3. Status updates on the various stages of the application process will be sent to your registered email.
4. Upon completion of the application, the applicant will receive an email notification confirming the return of their documents, with a scheduled delivery date. An AWB number will also be provided to track the delivery of the documents.

What happens if my documents do not meet the required terms and conditions?

If submitted documents fail to comply with the specified terms and conditions, the application will be rejected. The attestation fee will be automatically refunded. However, service fee (which includes delivery) will not be refunded. Original documents will be returned.
You can re-submit your documents once terms and conditions are met.

Can I send non-UK, or non-Icelandic documents to the UAE Embassy in London?
Non-UK, or non-Icelandic documents must be attested/legalised by the UAE Embassy/Consulate in their relevant country.
