The United Arab Emirates and the Swiss Confederation share longstanding economic and trade relations that have developed over the decades, creating productive partnerships across key sectors, including trade, finance, technology, healthcare, and tourism. As the two countries marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024, economic cooperation continued to grow, supported by a shared commitment to exploring new opportunities in innovation, trade, sustainability, and advanced technology.
Non-oil trade between the two countries grew significantly in 2025, increasing by 129.77% compared with the previous year to reach USD 60.94 billion. This growth reflects the strength of bilateral trade ties and joint efforts to expand economic and investment partnerships. It also highlights promising opportunities for further cooperation in priority sectors, particularly advanced technology, clean energy, alternative fuels, medical technology, and biotechnology.
The UAE is a key trading partner for Switzerland in the Middle East and an important gateway for Swiss goods and companies to regional and global markets. Its strategic location, advanced infrastructure, and world-class logistics facilities provide an effective platform for Swiss companies to expand their operations, access promising markets in Asia and Africa, and strengthen their export capabilities.
Switzerland, in turn, is an important trade and investment partner for the UAE and the leading European destination for Emirati non-oil exports, which reached USD 45.56 billion in 2025. These ties reflect growing shared economic interests and opportunities to further develop the bilateral partnership across various sectors.
