The General Commissioner of the Romanian Section for EXPO 2020 Dubai, Mihail Doru Dediu participated on Monday, the 21st of October 2019, in the event "EXPO 2020, 1 Year Countdown", organized by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Romania, on the occasion of the one year countdown until at the official opening of the Dubai World's Fair.
The event aimed at promoting EXPO 2020 Dubai, as well as presenting some aspects of interest regarding Romania's participation in this international event. Similar information and promotion events are taking place during this period in all the capitals of the countries participating at EXPO 2020.
The event organized in Bucharest was attended by numerous members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Romania, representatives of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and of the local business environment.
The UAE Ambassador to Bucharest, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Saeed Bin Saeed Almatrooshi, thanked the Romanian side for supporting this large-scale project and expressed confidence in Romania's successful participation in EXPO 2020.
He also greeted the celebration of 30 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and the UAE, emphasizing the importance that the parties attach to the bilateral economic relations since the signing, in 2018,of the Joint Declaration on establishing a strategic economic partnership between the Government of Romania and the Government of the United Arab Emirates.
At the same time, the Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the good integration of the members of the Romanian community in the UAE, who represent a link between the two countries and cultures.
In his turn, the General Commissioner of the Romanian Section thanked the Emirati side for the good collaboration regarding the presence of our country in the international event EXPO 2020 and mentioned that, through this participation, Romania wants to illustrate a number of national contributions in various sectors: technology, SMEs, environment, renewable energies, bio-technologies, start-ups and innovation, culture, tourism and gastronomy.
The Commissioner pointed out that Romania's presence at EXPO 2020 is characterized by the major objectives assumed by the Emirati authorities in this project, namely the importance of maintaining viable connections between people, goods and ideas, in order to ensure easy access on several levels, markets, information, knowledge, innovation.
He also highlighted the role of natural and artificial ecosystems in raising living standards both at the individual level and at the community level.
During the event, the representatives of the architecture company Cumulus Architecture S.R.L, the winners of the solutions contest "Romanian Pavilion at EXPO 2020 Dubai" presented the architectural details of the national pavilion "New Nature", as well as the elements underlying the curatorial concept.
Thus, the relevant architectural elements of the exterior and interior of the pavilion were presented, showing that the curatorial project focuses on the complementarity of the concepts of tradition and modernity.
