H.E. Mohamed Ismail Al Sahlawi
Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the European Union
H.E. Mohamed Ismail Al Sahlawi serves as Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the European Union since November 2021. He brings decades of diplomatic experience, during which he has held a number of senior leadership positions, most notably as Deputy Head of Mission at the UAE Embassy in Paris and Deputy Permanent Delegate of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
His Excellency also held several positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Deputy Director of the European Affairs Department and Deputy Director of the Policy Planning Department. In addition, he served as a member of the Syrian Crisis Committee and represented the UAE in a number of working groups established under the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh.
H.E. Mohamed Ismail Al Sahlawi holds a Bachelor's degree in International Studies with a minor in Government from the American University of Sharjah. He also earned a Master's degree in Environmental Policy, Energy, and Transnational Security from New York University's Center for Global Affairs, and completed the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Program at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
