His Excellency Ahmed Al Sayegh Participates in BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting and Friends of BRICS

Nizhny Novgorod:  His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, participated in the Ministerial Session of the BRICS Dialogue with Developing Countries, which was held in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
 
The meeting was held under the Russian Federation BRICS chairmanship for 2024, with the UAE's participation underscoring its steadfast commitment to international cooperation and development.
 
H.E. Al Sayegh commended BRICS for its inclusive approach, which fosters partnerships based on mutual trust and shared aspirations. His Excellency Al Sayegh said: "The UAE is committed to prioritizing constructive economic partnerships as the most effective pathway to building bridges of cooperation and overcoming crises."
 
His Excellency also highlighted the UAE's proactive approach to critical global issues such as climate change, food security, and sustainable development, emphasizing that global collective initiatives and multilateral action is now more important than ever to address current challenges and achieve a more prosperous future for all.
 
Furthermore, His Excellency discussed the UAE’s efforts to mobilize collective climate action through its Presidency of the Conference of the Parties to UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which achieved significant success, concluding with the historic ‘UAE Consensus’, which ushered in a new era of climate action to maintain the 1.5°C target. His Excellency also emphasized the most prominent achievements of COP28 in establishing a global consensus towards a clean and just energy transition that aims to support the objectives of economic development, and facilitates trade and investment partnerships.
 
The meeting followed the BRICS Foreign Ministers' meeting, attended by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, which concluded with the adoption of a Foreign Ministers Joint Statement that reaffirms BRICS member states’ commitment to strengthening multilateralism and the importance of finding solutions to global challenges collectively. Furthermore, the statement highlighted the importance of cooperation in areas such as sustainable development, economic growth, and global security, reflecting the shared goals of the BRICS nations.
 
The UAE's participation in BRICS underscores its steadfast belief that coordinated joint global action and multilateral cooperation are more important than ever to address global challenges, according to principles aiming to reinforce peace, stability, and global prosperity.
