Abdullah Bin Zayed discusses regional developments, specifically the situation in Syria, during a phone call with Russia’s Foreign Minister

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed in a phone call today with Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the overall regional developments, particularly the situation in Syria.
The two sides reviewed the importance of strengthening regional and international efforts aimed at supporting peace and fostering stability in the region, benefiting all its nations and peoples.
They emphasised the need to strengthen the role of the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen.
Furthermore, they stressed the importance of adhering to and implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2254 to achieve a political settlement in Syria that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people for security, stability, and prosperity.
