His Excellency Ahmed Al Hay Al Hameli, UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan, held a media briefing regarding the UAE's hosting of the conference, which will take place at Expo City Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023, where he emphasized that COP28 aims to unite global efforts on climate action and identify opportunities for cooperation to address sustainability challenges.
During a seminar organized by the UAE Embassy in Ashgabat in collaboration with the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan in Mary, His Excellency Al Hameli expressed his anticipation of Turkmenistan's active participation in COP28. HE Al Hameli also looked forward to the involvement of His Excellency Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the President of Turkmenistan, in the global climate action summit scheduled for December 1 and 2.
His Excellency Al Hameli affirmed that the UAE is committed to leveraging this opportunity to accelerate global efforts in addressing the impact of climate change, especially as COP28 will witness the response to the first Global Stocktake for the implementation of the Paris Agreement's goals, a crucial milestone in the world's collective climate action.
HE emphasized that aligned with the UAE leadership’s vision, the COP28 Presidency aims for the conference to represent a turning point in achieving tangible and substantial progress in global climate action, in conjunction with achieving sustainable economic and social development, through its action plan based on four pillars: accelerating the achievement of an organized, responsible and just energy transition, developing climate finance mechanisms, safeguarding people and improving livelihoods, and supporting the previous pillars by hosting a fully inclusive conference.
The seminar, organized by the UAE Embassy, was attended by officials from Masdar, alongside Dr. Serdar Nazarov, the President of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan. The Masdar delegation presented the UAE's endeavors in the field of renewable energy and diversifying energy sources.
