UAE to host PAM General Assembly meeting

The UAE will host the 16th Plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) at the headquarters of the Federal National Council (FNC) in Dubai.

The meeting is set to approve the FNC’s permanent membership in PAM.

Opening of the Plenary session, Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the FNC, will deliver the welcome address, which will be followed by the speech of Gennaro Migliore, President of PAM.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, will also deliver a speech, along with Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), and Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), who will deliver speeches via video conferencing.

It is also scheduled that the forty-fourth meeting of the assembly's bureau will be held on 8th March, 2022.

PAM is a parliamentary forum during which parliaments can meet to issue political, social, economic and cultural recommendations for the parliaments of countries bordering the Mediterranean basin.

PAM’s membership includes 28 member parliaments and five affiliated parliaments, including the FNC, whose membership will be announced during the meeting. Qatar's membership will also be accepted.
