The Joint Committee Meeting covered a range of sectors and areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, maritime cooperation, agriculture, aquaculture, energy, land transport and logistics, tourism and hospitality, and multilateral cooperation with ASEAN.
Discussions also touched on climate change priorities and highlighted the UAE’s leading role as the host country of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) in 2023.
His Excellency Ahmed Al Sayegh commended the role of the Joint Committee in enhancing cooperation between the two countries and unlocking the potential of trade and investment cooperation as envisioned by the governments of both countries.
For his part, the Honourable Dato Erywan Yusof highlighted Brunei Darussalam’s interest in strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation with the UAE and praised efforts carried out by the UAE to coordinate the climate agenda under COP28.
Attendees from the UAE side included HE Saeed Mubarak Alhajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, and HE Khalid Ghanim Al Ghaith, UAE Ambassador to Malaysia and Non-Resident Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam.
The Brunei Darussalam side also included HE Haji Harun bin Haji Junid, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the UAE.
