Lithuanian president hails relations with UAE.

President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskait? has stated that the UAE and Lithuania share a forward-thinking vision towards the importance of innovation in creating a brighter future for their peoples, underlining the distinctive relations binding the two friendly nations at present and the growth and promising prospects lying ahead for both of them.

The president made the statements during a meeting with Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy, who is visiting the country, accompanied by high-level delegation to Lithuania, which is the last leg of the his tour of the Baltic region.

The Lithuanian president expressed belief that the coming period will witness fruitful partnerships between the two countries across different domains to the betterment of their bilateral relations.

''Launching direct flights between the two countries will add to the efforts made to stimulate collaboration between Lithuanian and UAE investors at the governmental and private levels,'' he affirmed.

''Participation in the EXPO 2020 Dubai will create valuable business opportunities for Lithuanian companies to promote their businesses in the UAE, said the president, noting that the UAE is the main gate for Lithuanian exports to the Middle East and North Africa Region.

Al Mansouri, for his part, underscored the UAE's willingness to expand cooperation with Lithuania in areas of tourism in order to utilise the considerable tourism potential both countries boast, calling upon investors in the two nations to benefit from the investment opportunities in the two countries in areas of hospitality, and other tourism-related services.

Al Mansouri met as well with the Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis who said the UAE is the second largest partner of Lithuania after Saudi Arabia, calling for advancing economic partnerships with the UAE in a number of sectors, primarily, InfoTech, Logistics, telecommunications, electronics, biotechnology and industry.

Al Mansouri noted the UAE determination to wean its economy off oil, while developing a forward-thinking, ambitious vision to rely on innovation and advanced technologies to accelerate economic growth over the coming period.
