Dr. Anwar Gargash: GCC countries adopt realistic approach for relations with Tehran.
The GCC countries have adopted a realistic approach for relations with Iran, said Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Addressing the 147th session of Arab League's Council meeting in Cairo today, Dr. Gargash said thanks to a prominent Kuwaiti role, the GCC countries have adopted a realistic approach that governs their relations with Iran, based on non interference in other countries affairs, Tehran's acceptance that the Iranian revolution is an internal matter that is not fit for exporting into Arab countries and acceptance of the principle of basing nationality on citizenship, not sectarianism.
"These are the foundations (of the relations) collectively adopted by the GCC countries and until Tehran agrees to them, it remains as a country with intervention and expansion plans that undermine our Arab security and stability," he added.
He continued by saying: :It is important we bring to the Arab League Council's attention that Iran is still playing a role in undermining the Arab security and stability, which is evident in many crises taking place in Syria, Yemen and Bahrain. It is unacceptable for us when someone says that they control four or five Arab capitals."
The UAE's delegation for the meeting, haeded by Dr. Gargash, included Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Faris Al Mazrouei, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Security and Military Affairs, Abdul Rahim Yousif Al Awadhi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Legal Affairs and other ministry officials.
