Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, represented the UAE at the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta, on Tuesday.

She conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to the friendly Kenyan people for their progress and prosperity.

The inauguration was attended by a number of African heads of state, as well as delegations from countries across the world. The ceremony took place following Kenya's elections which resulted in Kenyatta winning a second five-year term on 26th October.

The volume of trade exchange between the UAE and Kenya exceeded US$1 billion in 2016.
