Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, UAE Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, has met Professor Ahmed Muhammad Ahmed el-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar to express the appreciation of the leaders, government and people of the UAE to the Islamic institution and its head.
Al-Azhar continues to be the best preacher of genuine Islam in the world, and all Muslims recognise this status while Egypt has achieved an equally prominent status in the Arab world and the Muslim world by being home to this institution, he said during the meeting which took place at Al-Azhar.
The UAE will spare no effort to co-operate with, and provide full backing for Al-Azhar and all its affiliate establishments, because it is the most prominent centre for spreading the values of moderate Islam in the world, Ambassador Al Junaibi stressed.
The noble positions of the UAE and its support for Al-Azhar reflect its leaders' firm stance to provide all support for whatever serves the causes of Arabs and Muslims, Sheikh el-Tayeb stressed.
This is not unusual for the sons of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who walk in the steps of their father and support Al-Azhar because it is a lighthouse of knowledge and a favourite destination for those who seek to learn, he added.
