H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MoFA, received a group of members of the Student Media Talent Programme which is run by Dubai Education Zone and Dubai Media Inc.

During their meeting, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah was briefed on the Student Media Talent Programme, which is aimed at improving media skills of Emirati students from Dubai’s government schools, as well as to train a media-savvy generation of Emiratis.

Speaking to the students, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah said, "Emiratis in the past made arduous efforts and lived in difficult conditions to achieve the civilisational progress that we enjoy today. Out biggest challenge is, therefore, to build on what our forefathers established throughout the past 43 years and achieve the best for the UAE in all spheres."

He stressed that it is important for citizens to embrace knowledge and science, display good manners and maintain a high reputation inside and outside the UAE to become ideal ambassadors of their country.

These traits, he said, are what led to the exemption of Emiratis from the Schengen visa requirement.

He also stressed that it is important for media people to uphold the principles credibility and accuracy in their reports, and avoid exaggeration and media hype.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah added, "The media is a strategic partner in the process of human development and plays a significant role in influencing societies and formulating mindsets. Its noble message influences all walks of life, and that is why there is a need to provide the necessary tools and skills for promising Emirati youth, to prepare them as future leaders in the media sector."

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah added that all media organisations should project the ongoing development and progress of the UAE.

"The media sector, including print media and broadcast, are making huge efforts to serve the country and citizens and keep pace with the development and prosperity taking place under the wise leadership."

The students were accompanied to the meeting by Dr. Ahmed Eid Al Mansouri, Director of Dubai Education Zone.

Al Mansouri thanked H.H. Sheikh Abdullah for his hospitality and providing this opportunity for students to interact with him.

The students expressed their delight at meeting H.H. Sheikh Abdullah and discussing media and diplomatic affairs with him.
