UAE participates in Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process Conference

The United Arab Emirates has participated in the fifth Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process Ministerial Conference aimed at strengthening peace, security and development in Afghanistan.

The theme of the conference, which concluded in Islamabad, was "Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process: Enhanced Cooperation for Countering Security Threats and Promoting Connectivity in the Heart of Asia Region." The two days conference was co-chaired by Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The UAE delegation to the conference was chaired by Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al Haidan, Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organisations Affairs. During the conference, the state delegation reviewed the country's role in supporting the security and stability of Afghanistan along with providing humanitarian and development aid and participate in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

Mr. Al Haidan highlighted the United Arab Emirates' active efforts in the fight against terrorism and extremism and the important role played by the "Hedaya" and "Sawab" centres' efforts.
