Section of Consular Services Legalization of Documents General Information All documents:

Steps for the Legalization of Documents:

  • All legal documents issued in Canada need to be authenticated by the Global Affairs Canada prior to sending them to the UAE Embassy. For the Global Affairs Canada requirements, please visit their website. http://www.international.gc.ca/department-ministere/authentication-authentification_documents
  • Note: Document must be authenticated separately Important: Please have the documents returned to you, not to the UAE Embassy. This helps avoid the loss of documents during transit, and confirms that the Global Affairs processed your document.
  • UAE Embassy Mail the authenticated documents along with these items to the UAE Embassy for final authentication: Your shipment must include the following: o Copy of the receipt from the online payment (Please make sure that the receipt copy MUST contain an application number starting with ATS-XXXXXXXX and receipt number clearly as a proof of successful transaction record. o Pre-paid self-addressed return envelope or computer-generated airway bill form (Please write your complete name and address on the return envelope or airway bill).
  • Fees for Commercial, Business and Corporate Documents You can process payments online through the E-payment Gateway found on the Ministry's main website. Click here to access E-payment Gateway Services (link is external): For commercial documents fee in dirhams is 2000 AED per document + Service Fee (Approximately $674.69 CAD) (Note: fee is subject to change based on the exchange rate) In regards to invoices, to avoid any delay, please make sure that the fees are entered appropriately and choose the right currency for the payment (USD or CAD).
  • The total full value of the invoice must be paid before any deduction such as down payment or discount. Invoices, Certificate of Origins, Packing List and other documents which are related to the invoice MUST be authenticated by Chamber of Commerce or Board of Trade in Canada. Any legal document that has potential business transaction will be as commercial document. Business and Corporate Documents: General Power of Attorney, Certificate of Good Standing, Resolution, Free Sale Certificate, Distribution/Agency Agreement, Price List, Certificate of Amendment, Articles of Amendment, Registration, Appointment/Distributor, GMP Certificate, Authorization of Agent, Sanitary Certificate, Assignment, ISO Certificate, Board of Resolution, Certificate of Existence, Certificate of Incorporation, Articles of Incorporation, Trademark/Patent application
  • By Laws all, commercial, business and corporate documents (except Invoices, Certificate of Origin, Packing List or any other documents that pertains to the Invoice) must be authenticated from Global Affairs Canada.
  • You can process payments online through the E-payment Gateway found on the Ministry's main website. Click here to access E-payment Gateway Services (link is external): For educational or personal documents fee in dirhams is 150.00 AED per document + Service Fee (Approximately $50.60 CAD) (Note: fee is subject to change based on the exchange rate)

Educational or Personal Documents:

Degrees, diplomas, transcripts, educational certificates, report cards, Birth, Marriage, Death Certificates, Fingerprints, Employment certificates, Personal Power of Attorney (Please make sure that your document must not contain any business, commercial or trade matter). Certificate of Good Conduct, Medical report. Documents issued from the United Arab Emirates with UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) stamp can be attested at the UAE Embassy in Ottawa. 

Important note:

  • In regards to degrees or diplomas from any Canadian University/Institution MUST order official and sealed transcript to be mailed directly to the UAE EMBASSY, attention to Consular Section. E-transcript is not acceptable. 
  • Any INCOMPLETE documents submitted for legalization to the UAE Embassy in OTTAWA will be returned to the sender.
