H.E. Dr. Fahad Obaid Al Taffaq Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Commonwealth of Australia

H.E. Dr. Fahad Obaid Al Taffaq has served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Commonwealth of Australia since March 2024. He brings decades of leadership and diplomatic experience, having held a number of senior positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government entities.

From 2015 to 2018, H.E. Dr. Al Taffaq served as Director of the Economic and Trade Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was subsequently appointed Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, serving from 2018 to 2023. Upon completing his assignment, he served as Director of the African Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2023 to 2024.

Throughout his career, H.E. Dr. Al Taffaq has also held several prominent leadership roles, including Vice Chair of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) from 2016 to 2018, and Executive Director of the Special Projects Department at the Tawazun Economic Council from 2011 to 2014.

H.E. Dr. Al Taffaq holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Economic Diplomacy from the United Arab Emirates University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the American University in Dubai, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Information Systems from the University of Dubai.
