The economic relations between UAE and Lebanon are distinguished and historical; UAE was the main source of Arab direct investment coming into Lebanon between 2003 and 2016 with a value of $ 7.8 billion, or 64.8% of the total number of projects.
The total import traffic from the UAE to Lebanon reached 81 million dollars since the beginning of the year-2018 until the end of February. The total import in January 2018 amounted to 37 million dollars and in February 44 million dollars.
The total export traffic from Lebanon to the UAE amounted to 69 million dollars as of the end of February 2018, while the total export in January 2018 amounted to 38 million dollars and in February 31 million dollars.
Regarding investments, it does not witness any new movement, especially in light of the tense political and security conditions on the Lebanese scene,this contributed to the retreat of investors and the reduction of investment projects, despite the attempts of the Lebanese economic bodies to address the issue and send more than a positive message, but it remained below the expectations. Noting that the Lebanese-Gulf Economic Relations Development Office was opened, but it has not been activated.
The most prominent import of Lebanon from the Emirates according to the latest statistics issued in the last part of the year 2017: Aluminum and its accessories, pharmaceutical industries, pearls and precious metals, As for the most prominent Lebanese exports to the Emirates, are pearls and precious metals, essential oils, perfumes and cosmetics, vegetables and crops.
