Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Angola H.E Salem Ali Alshamsi

H.E. Salem Ali Al Shamsi has served as Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Angola since 2023. He also serves as the UAE's Non-Resident Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe and the Gabonese Republic. With more than two decades of diplomatic and administrative experience, H.E. Al Shamsi has held a number of leadership and diplomatic positions both within the UAE and abroad.

H.E. Al Shamsi began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2000 within the Financial and Administrative Affairs Department, where he assumed a range of administrative and organizational responsibilities. Among his notable roles were Head of the Diplomats Affairs Section and Secretary-General of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps Council.

In 2006, H.E. Al Shamsi joined the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington, D.C., where he served as Head of the Consular Affairs and Citizens Services Section until 2013. During the period from 2007 to 2011, he was also entrusted with the duties of Acting Cultural Attaché in Washington, D.C. Subsequently, he served as Deputy Director of the East Asia and Pacific Affairs Department from 2013 to 2015, before being appointed Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in Boston in 2015.

H.E. Salem Ali Al Shamsi holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from the Catholic University of America.
