The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates has announced the opening of applications for international university grants for UAE nationals looking to join the diplomatic corps in the ministry.
The Scholarship Program for Emirati High School Graduates, who already have one or more offers from a list of 133 universities set by the Ministry, with a full scholarship to pursue the Bachelor's degree from 2018-2019.
This scholarship is offered at selected high-level universities in the following 16 countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, America. The initiative aims to provide future diplomats with good educational experience in areas of strategic importance to the ministry.
Upon graduation, the graduates will return to the UAE and enroll in the Emirates Diplomatic Academy (EDA) Graduate Diploma in UAE Diplomacy and International Relations. This program at the Emirates Diving Association will provide candidates with specialized knowledge of global and regional issues, particularly those related to the UAE and wider Middle East, while serving as a prelude to their career in diplomacy.
Interested candidates wishing to apply for scholarships are required to work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after graduation for a period of equal years of study abroad, provided that this period is not less than three years. They must maintain a cumulative average of 3.0 or equivalent throughout the study period, receive at least 12 credit hours per semester, and join the summer training or workplace specified by the ministry. The acceptance process will also include many other assessments and circumstances.
Applications will open today from 6:00 pm via www.eda.ac.ae, where candidates will also be able to see the full list of academic institutions and more information. The deadline for submission of applications is 31 May 2018.
