During his visit to Kigali, H.E. Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability, discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the UAE and Rwanda in the areas of energy, infrastructure, water and sanitation.

His Excellency Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability, participated in the Africa Water & Sanitation Systems Leadership Symposium 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda, in the presence of H.E. Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva, Prime Minister of the Republic of Rwanda, alongside officials, experts, and leaders from across the water and sanitation sectors.

The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Kigali, in partnership with the Rwanda Muslim Community, organized the “Interfaith Iftar Initiative,” with the attendance of senior Government of Rwanda officials, religious leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, and community figures.

The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in the Republic of Rwanda organized the UAE–Rwanda Trade Meeting, dedicated to exploring opportunities for cooperation and investment in coffee, tea, honey, and fruit products, with broad participation from representatives of the public and private sectors in both countries.

His Excellency Hazza Al Qahtani, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Rwanda, received Her Excellency Dr. Farida Al Hosani, Deputy CEO of the Global Institute for Disease Elimination, along with her accompanying delegation.

H.E. Hazza AlQahtani, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Rwanda, was received by Hon. General (Ret.) James Kabarebe, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Cooperation. The two officials held discussions focused on further strengthening the bilateral relations between the UAE and Rwanda.

His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, and His Excellency Hazza Al Qahtani, UAE Ambassador to Rwanda participated in the inaugural Global AI Summit on Africa held in Kigali from April 3–4, 2025. The summit, themed "AI and Africa’s Demographic Dividend: Reimagining Economic Opportunities for Africa’s Workforce," focused on Africa's role in shaping the global AI economy.

His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE government, and His Excellency Hazza Al Qahtani, UAE Ambassador to Rwanda, met with Colonel David Kanamugire, CEO of Rwanda’s National Cybersecurity Authority.

The discussions centered on strengthening cooperation between the UAE and Rwanda's institutions in the fields of artificial intelligence and digital innovation.

His Excellency Ambassador Hazza Al Qahtani, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Rwanda, met with Dr. Olugbemiga Adelakin, Country Representative of UNFPA Rwanda. The discussions focused on how to strengthen cooperation between the UAE Embassy and the UNFPA in Rwanda.

The United Arab Emirates Embassy in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, hosted an interfaith iftar dinner at the residence of His Excellency Ambassador Hazza AlQahtani, bringing together religious leaders and dignitaries from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the values of unity, tolerance and coexistence.
