His Excellency Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability, participated in the Africa Water & Sanitation Systems Leadership Symposium 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda, in the presence of H.E. Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva, Prime Minister of the Republic of Rwanda, alongside officials, experts, and leaders from across the water and sanitation sectors.
During the Symposium, H.E. Balalaa emphasized that water is not merely a development priority, but a driver of economic growth and a significant investment opportunity. He highlighted the importance of partnerships, innovation, and sustainable solutions to strengthen water and sanitation systems across Africa.
H.E. Balalaa also reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to Africa’s growth, development, and sustained prosperity, stating: “We will continue to serve as an advocate, as a connector, and as a catalyst for Africa’s prosperity.”
The UAE’s participation in the Kigali Symposium comes as part of preparations to host the 2026 United Nations Water Conference in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the Republic of Senegal, from 8–10 December 2026.
