Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Republic of Iraq H.E. Abdullah Mater Khamis Al Mazrouei

H.E. Abdullah Matar Khamis Al Mazrouei has served as Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Iraq since 2024. He brings extensive diplomatic and administrative experience accumulated over a distinguished career spanning several decades in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the country’s diplomatic missions abroad.
His Excellency began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1987 as a Third Secretary. Over the years, he served at the UAE Embassies in London and Damascus, before being appointed Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Department from 1997 to 2000. He subsequently served as Ambassador of the UAE to the Republic of the Sudan from 2000 to 2002, while also serving concurrently as Non-Resident Ambassador to Uganda and Tanzania.

Following this assignment, he headed the Administrative Affairs Department from 2002 to 2006 and later the GCC and Arabian Gulf Affairs Department from 2006 to 2008.

In 2008, H.E. was appointed Ambassador of the UAE to the Republic of Yemen, while concurrently serving as Non-Resident Ambassador to Eritrea and the Union of the Comoros. He later served as Ambassador to Malaysia from 2013 to 2017, in addition to his role as Non-Resident Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam. In 2017, he was appointed Director of the Arab Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a position he held until August 2024.

In recognition of his contributions, H.E. has been awarded several distinguished honors, including the Order of Unity from the Republic of Yemen in 2013, the Green Crescent Medal from the Union of the Comoros in the same year, and the Order of the Two Niles (First Class) from the Republic of the Sudan in 2002.

His Excellency holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from UAE University and a Master's degree in Management from University of New Hampshire.
