ROUNDTABLE MEETING BETWEEN THE US EMBASSY, AMERICAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE-GHANA, ORACLE GHANA, AMERICAN TOWER CORPORATION, AND IBM

Wed 22/4/2026

H.E. Dr. Abdulla Al Mandoos formally introduced the Government of the UAE’s proposal to develop Innovation & Technology Hub in Ghana.

The project was presented as a neutral, high-technology, and commercially driven platform designed to position Ghana as a regional gateway for trade, innovation, and digital services across West Africa.

The meeting marked the first high-level briefing of American diplomatic and business stakeholders on the UAE-led Innovation Hub project in Ghana. It reinforced Ghana’s strategic positioning as a stable, democratic, and secure entry point for regional operations in West Africa.

The engagement highlighted the UAE’s intention to anchor long-term economic cooperation through infrastructure-led investment rather than short-term commercial activity. It established an initial platform for collaboration between UAE institutions and American technology and infrastructure firms.

The proposed Innovation Hub has the potential to significantly transform Ghana’s digital and technological ecosystem, particularly through the development of a large-scale data center and advanced digital infrastructure.

The project creates a structured gateway for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to access African, Middle Eastern, and global markets under predictable regulatory conditions. By replicating proven Dubai free zone models, the hub could introduce standardized commercial rules, legal certainty, and operational efficiency attractive to multinational investors. The emphasis on knowledge transfer and capacity building positions the hub as both an economic and human capital development initiative.
