Ambassador AlQahtani is the current UAE Ambassador to Rwanda since June 2018. He was the Non-Resident UAE Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo from November 2020 to November 2022.
Prior to this posting, he was Advisor in the Department of African Affairs in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation.
Ambassador AlQahtani joined the UAE’s Foreign Service in 1999, in the Department of the American Affairs. He was later posted to the UAE Embassy in London where he was the Head of the Consular Affairs Section. He also worked in various departments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation including the American & European Affairs Department.
In 2008, Ambassador AlQahtani was tasked with establishing the UAE Office for the Coordination of Foreign Aid (OCFA), and was appointed the Director General. Four years later, OCFA was upgraded to a full-fledged ministry - Ministry of International Cooperation and Development, and Ambassador AlQahtani was made the Undersecretary of this Ministry.
