On the 7th of May 2025, H.E. Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, received His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, His Highness conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and his wishes for development and prosperity for Malawi and its people. The meeting explored ways to expand bilateral cooperation across various fields, particularly economic, trade, investment and development sectors, as well as other areas serving the mutual interests of both countries and their peoples.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed that the UAE attaches great importance to strengthening bridges of cooperation with the Republic of Malawi and building effective development partnerships that support the two countries’ efforts to achieve sustainable development and prosperity. He also highlighted the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its partnerships, particularly economic partnerships, with all friendly African countries. Following the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.E. Dr. Lazarus Chakwera witnessed the signing of five memorandums of understanding between the two countries.
