Mubadala Capital, the asset management arm of Abu Dhabi's sovereign wealth fund Mubadala Investment Company, announced plans to invest approximately USD 13.5 billion in Brazil's biofuels sector over the next decade — one of the largest single UAE investments in Latin America to date.
The initiative, led by Mubadala's energy subsidiary Acelen, will focus on the production of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) through a flagship biofuels project. The plan encompasses five biorefinery modules, each with a production capacity of 20,000 barrels of fuel per day and an individual investment of USD 2.7 billion, with first production expected from 2026.
In addition, Mubadala Capital aims to expand its existing portfolio across multiple Brazilian sectors, including transportation infrastructure, education, and financial markets — including the establishment of a new stock exchange. The total Brazil platform under Mubadala now manages more than USD 7.3 billion in assets.
This investment reinforces the UAE's position as a key partner in Brazil's energy transition and sustainable development agenda, consistent with the strategic priorities outlined in the bilateral relationship between both governments.
