EDGE Group of the United Arab Emirates and Spain’s Indra Group have announced the establishment of a new joint venture in Spain dedicated to the manufacture of advanced defense systems, with a particular focus on the development, production, and support of loitering munitions and smart weapons for Spanish and European defense programs.
The new company will leverage EDGE’s expertise in this field to enhance Europe’s defense industrial capabilities.
The project includes the construction of a new facility for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and loitering munitions in the province of León, with an estimated investment of €20 million and the creation of approximately 200 jobs once full operational capacity is reached. In addition, an advanced manufacturing facility will be established in Valladolid to produce precision engines for unmanned systems.
This initiative supports European industrial sovereignty and addresses the growing demand for advanced defense capabilities. It also reflects both parties’ commitment to developing competitive, export-oriented defense industries at the European level.
