The Ghaf tree has been called the companion of the path since ancient times. It is one of the authentic trees associated with the heritage and history of the UAE, and it represents a great cultural value in the country. The Ghaf tree received great care from late Sheikh Zayed bin sultan Al Nahyan. He used to pay great attention to the desert environment, especially the Ghaf tree, as he issued decrees and instructions not to cut it and to preserve it. At Expo 2020 Dubai, Al Ghafa, had a prominent presence at the Expo event. Since 1979, The UAE has been participating in the Sumo tournament by gifting the winner a huge coffee pot. The usage of the coffee pot is an indication of hospitality in the UAE, where guests are always welcomed by a fresh cup of coffee. This is the original coffee pot that was used in 1979 by UAE Ambassador Ahmed Almoqarab. It is made out of silver. A different coffee pot was used until July 2023 and the latest version was introduced in the September 2023 Sumo Final in Tokyo.
