  • Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach: This international surfing competition, held each year in April is the longest running world championship level contest on the World Surf League World Tour.
  • Australian Rules Football: The first game of Australian Rules Football was played in Melbourne in 1858, and quickly grew to become one of the most loved sports across the country.  The Australian Football League season runs from June to September. Each year, the Grand Final is played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

  • Horse Racing: The Melbourne Cup, Australia’s most prestigious Thoroughbred race, and one of the richest horseraces in the world, is run every year on the first Tuesday of November as part of the Spring Racing Carnival.
