UAE Ambassador to Armenia Discusses Strengthening Cooperation in Sustainability and Development with the UN Resident Coordinator

Her Excellency Dr. Nariman Al Mulla, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Armenia, received Ms. Françoise Jacob, UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia. The meeting addressed ways to strengthen cooperation between the UAE and the UN system in Armenia, and reviewed regional and international developments, alongside a number of issues of shared interest.

During the meeting, Ms. Jacob praised the leading role played by the UAE in supporting the UN system, and its continuous contributions in the humanitarian and development fields, commending its approach to strengthening multilateral cooperation and supporting sustainable development efforts. She also praised the UAE’s role in supporting peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, affirming that its hosting of meetings between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan has contributed to consolidating dialogue and building trust between the two sides.

For her part, Her Excellency the Ambassador affirmed the UAE’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with Armenia and the UN system, particularly in the fields of economy, investment, technology, and sustainability, highlighting the UAE’s interest in exploring cooperation opportunities in water resource management and waste recycling, and benefiting from UAE expertise in the circular economy and sustainable development, in support of implementing joint projects in cooperation with UN agencies.

The two sides also discussed cooperation opportunities in the health sector, where Her Excellency the Ambassador presented the UAE’s experience in developing its healthcare system, while the Resident Coordinator affirmed the UN’s continued support for the Armenian government in implementing the universal health insurance project and developing health services.

The meeting also addressed the importance of sustainable water resource management, where Her Excellency the Ambassador presented the UAE’s preparations to host the UN Water Conference 2026 in Abu Dhabi from 8 to 10 December 2026, affirming the importance of strengthening international cooperation to find innovative solutions to challenges related to water security and climate change.

The meeting also touched on ongoing preparations for the Republic of Armenia to host the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), from 19 to 30 October 2026, with both sides affirming the importance of coordination and cooperation to ensure the success of this international event.
