Since the establishment of the Embassy in 2017, the Embassy has supported various organizations and campaigns in Latvia, such as:
- MARTA center for women, Radio Marathons and their charitable causes as well as International Women’s Club of Riga.
- There is also a close collaboration with accredited NGOs for Refugees. These initiatives reflect the principles of tolerance in the UAE. Furthermore.
- The Embassy ensured its active participation in the annual Charity Christmas Bazaar organized by the International Women`s Club of Riga which helps in raising funds for charities.
- The Embassy has also supported Smiltene Red Cross Hospital, nursing home section and an orphanage for children with special needs in Liepaja.
- In terms of sports, the Embassy has supported several institutions creating a supportive environment that encourages athletes to achieve ambitious goals. The leadership of the UAE has made the UAE a center for Jiu-Jitsu by designating it as the UAE’s national sport. Therefore, the Embassy ensured its engagement and support for the Latvian Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation to organize the first Jiu Jitsu Championship in Latvia! In addition.
- The Embassy has participated in the annual Riga Marathon since 2017 and supported the Latvian Special Olympics team. In the field of education, for instance, The Embassy assisted the Latvian Institute to publish books and information materials in Arabic language about Latvia that shows how important the Arab region is for Latvia and gifted a number of books in Arabic to the Latvian National Library and the Academic Library of the University of Latvia.
- The UAE Embassy ensured its active participation in the annual International Days organized by the International School of Riga to promote the Emirati culture and introduce students with customs and values of the UAE.
- Another initiative that was organized by the UAE Embassy in cooperation with the University of Latvia was through hosting the Arabic Language Speaking Contest for students of Arabic Language Studies at the University of Latvia.
- As UAE named 2019 as the Year of Tolerance, the Embassy organized a cultural orientation for Riga Cultures Secondary School and delivered a lecture about the history of the UAE, its culture and examples that reflects the definition of the Year of Tolerance. Hence, the Embassy organized the creative idea contest entitled’ Year of Tolerance’, in which it gave the opportunity for the students in Latvia, aiming to promote tolerance among young people and show ways to promote Tolerance through creative artworks, as it played a vital role in building bridges of similarities between the Emirati and Latvian cultures.
- Another project supported by the UAE Embassy was through renovating the youth center in Rezekne City.
- Health is another sector that the Embassy supports in Latvia. So far, the Embassy has gifted special medical equipment to the Children’s Hospital in Riga and provided annual support to the Jekabpils municipality health initiative “Live Healthy” which is still ongoing and, the previously mentioned, Smiltene hospital. - The Embassy actively participates in the annual nation-scale volunteer event “The Big Cleanup” in 2018 and 2019, which aims in raising awareness of environmental threats in Latvia and around the World.
- UAE Embassy actively ensured its participation in Jurmala Resort Festival every year with an Emirati corner that promotes the UAE culture and traditions to the Latvian society and as touristic destination for the Baltic region.
