On behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, led the UAE delegation to the Africa Water Investment Summit in Cape Town. The delegation included Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister for Energy and Sustainability. Convened as part of South Africa’s G20 Presidency, the summit aimed to mobilise investment in climate-resilient water and sanitation projects to drive water security, economic growth, and sustainable development across Africa.

H.E. Ambassador Mahash AlHameli met with Mr. Muhammed Nemukula, representative of the Soweto Muslim Association, to explore potential areas of collaboration in community engagement, interfaith dialogue, and cultural exchange.

H.E. Mahash AlHameli, Ambassador of the UAE to South Africa, met with Ms. Lindy Muzila – Regional GPML Project Coordinator, Ms. Amaal Ibrahim – Project Consultant, and Ms. Mariana Periquito Afonso Dias – Associate Program Officer at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The meeting focused on exploring areas of collaboration and potential partnerships in fields of mutual interest.

H.E. Ambassador Mahash AlHameli met with South African artist Ms. Mahdiyya Laher, who has been selected to participate in World Art Dubai 2025. The meeting highlighted the importance of cultural exchange and the role of art in strengthening people-to-people ties between the UAE and South Africa.

H.E. Ambassador Mahash AlHameli met with Mr. Shahmir Zahid, Chairperson; Ms. Mishkat Chaudhary, Vice Chairperson; and a committee member of the Muslim Student Association at the University of Pretoria, to discuss youth leadership, intercultural dialogue, and the promotion of mutual understanding between communities in the UAE and South Africa.

H.E. Ambassador Mahash AlHameli met with Ms. Neeta Somers, Deputy Director at the Candidatures Committee Secretariat within the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), to discuss the strong bilateral relations between the UAE and South Africa and explore ways to enhance cooperation and coordination, particularly in multilateral engagements and areas of mutual interest.

H.E. Ambassador Mahash AlHameli met with Ms. Tahera Sayed, Director of Finance and Administration at the Department of Provincial Treasury – North West Province, to discuss opportunities for collaboration in the field of women empowerment.

H.E. Ambassador Mahash AlHameli met with Mr. Noah Debeila, President & CEO of the MSME Chambers South Africa, and Ms. Buhlebokukholwa Sibanyoni, Founder and CEO of Azanyah Trade Hub, to explore avenues for strengthening UAE–South Africa collaboration in entrepreneurship, trade development, and inclusive economic growth.

The UAE Embassy in Pretoria hosted a high-profile economic event in the KwaZulu-Natal province to showcase investment prospects in the UAE. The event was attended by top companies and influential business owners, and it highlighted the UAE's dynamic business environment and its commitment to fostering global partnerships.

Ms. Fatima Al Suwaidi, Counselor at the Embassy, met with the Team headed by H.E. Busilenso Makaki, Director General of the Chamber, in the capital Maseru. During the meeting, investment opportunities and ways to enhance economic cooperation in the most important investment sectors between the two countries were discussed.
