The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Pretoria hosted the UAE–Southern Africa SMME Forum, uniting government and private-sector leaders to strengthen cooperation, empower entrepreneurs, and promote sustainable growth across both regions.

On the sidelines of the G20 environment ministers’ meetings, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment organised the UAE-South Africa Sustainable Agriculture and Food Forum, a strategic platform for dialogue designed to advance cooperation in food security, innovation, and climate-resilient agriculture. The Forum aimed to facilitate agrifood trade and investment flows, promote public-private partnerships in agricultural technology and exchange expertise in desert agriculture and smart logistics. The Forum was attended by Dr Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Premier Alan Winde of the Western Cape Province, and Mahash Saeed Alhameli, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of South Africa. The event also brought together senior officials from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, representatives of relevant government entities, and Emirati companies operating in the food and agriculture sectors, alongside their South African counterparts.

His Excellency Mahash Saeed AlHameli, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, attended the Tourism Investment Forum Africa (TIFA) 2025, held from 27 to 29 August in the City of uMhlathuze, KwaZulu-Natal. TIFA 2025 convened government leaders, investors, financial institutions, and tourism stakeholders to promote partnerships and innovative financing for sustainable tourism growth across Africa.

The United Arab Emirates has delivered 91 tonnes of urgent medical aid to the Republic of Botswana in response to the national health emergency declared by H.E. President Duma Boko.

The UAE Youth 20 (Y20) Delegation participated in the G20 youth engagement track, held from 18 to 22 August 2025 in Johannesburg, contributing to global discussions on innovation, sustainability, and youth leadership.

Ms. Fatima AlSuwaidi, Counselor at the UAE Embassy, attended the UAE–South Africa MSME Symposium held at The Innovation Hub in Pretoria. The event brought together key stakeholders to advance collaboration in priority sectors, including innovation, space technology, water sustainability, and the agri-food value chain.

The UAE National Wheelchair Basketball Team arrived in South Africa to participate in the 3×3 World Championship, proudly carrying the spirit of the UAE with strength and determination. They were warmly welcomed by H.E. Mahash Saeed Al Hameli, UAE Ambassador to South Africa; Colonel Staff Abdullah Mohamed Al Tunajji, UAE Military Attaché; and Ms. Ancilla Smith, CEO of Special Olympics South Africa. We are proud of our athletes of determination who raised the UAE flag with pride and resilience on the global stage, reflecting the nation’s spirit and values.

The UAE delegation, headed by H.E. Mahash Saeed Al Hameli, UAE Ambassador to South Africa and Deputy Sherpa, participated in the 3rd Sherpa Meeting of the G20 in South Africa. The meeting gathered representatives of member states, invited countries, and international organizations to review progress across the G20 working groups. The UAE showcased its contributions in areas including women’s empowerment, digital economy, climate, and sustainability. South Africa invited the UAE to participate as a guest country in the G20 2025.
