The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Indonesia enjoy close and longstanding bilateral relations across a wide range of sectors, including politics, trade, investment, education, culture, renewable energy, infrastructure, and humanitarian cooperation. These ties continue to grow through high-level official visits, the implementation of joint investment projects, and expanded cultural and educational exchanges, reflecting the depth of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Official diplomatic relations were established in 1976. The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia opened in Abu Dhabi in October 1978, followed by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Dubai and the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center in 2003, and the Indonesian Investment Promotion Center in 2010. The UAE opened its Embassy in Jakarta in June 1991, followed by the Consular Services Office in 2014 and the Military Attaché Office in 2019. The UAE Red Crescent also established its office in Jakarta in 1997.
