UAE President and Russian President Discuss Bilateral Relations and International Issues

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Excellency Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, discussed today various aspects of relations between the two countries and the potential for their development within the framework of their strategic partnership, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of common interest.

This came during a meeting held by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan with His Excellency Vladimir Putin at Qasr Al Watan Palace in Abu Dhabi. At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness welcomed the Russian President's visit to the UAE, praising his active role in developing and strengthening UAE-Russia relations at all levels. President Vladimir Putin congratulated His Highness on the 52nd anniversary of the UAE's founding, wishing the UAE continued progress and prosperity.

His Highness the President of the State and the Russian President exchanged views on a number of issues of common interest, foremost among them the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the need for the international community to act to stop the fighting in the Gaza Strip, protect civilians and ensure the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid to them through safe, permanent and unhindered mechanisms. In this context, the two sides stressed the importance of working to create a clear horizon for a lasting and comprehensive peace in the region based on the “two-state solution”.
