Her Excellency Hessa Al Shuwaihi is the Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in Los Angeles and a career diplomat with the rank of Counselor. She brings over a decade of experience in diplomacy, strategic communications and public diplomacy, advancing the UAE’s foreign policy and international engagement.
As Consul General, Ms. Al Shuwaihi leads the Consulate’s efforts to strengthen commercial, cultural and people-to-people ties between the UAE and the United States.
Previously, she served as Head of Communications and Public Diplomacy at the UAE Embassy in Washington, DC, where she developed strategic initiatives to deepen bilateral relations and spearheaded programs including the “50 Years|50 Faces” campaign, the UAE Pavilion at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival and the Zayed Charity Run. She also held senior positions at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she led global digital engagement and diplomatic communications initiatives.
Ms. Al Shuwaihi holds a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Affairs from Zayed University, a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Media from the Higher Colleges of Technology and a postgraduate diploma in UAE Diplomacy and International Relations from the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy.
