The United Arab Emirates and the Province of Guangdong have strong strategic and economic cooperation relations.
In 2012, the Friendly Exchange and Cooperation Relations were established between the Emirate of Dubai and the City of Guangzhou.
In 2018, a Dubai government delegation led by H.E. Abdullah Al Basti, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Dubai, visited Shenzhen. During which a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of friendly exchange and cooperation relations between the two cities was signed.
In 2020, an official delegation from the Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government led by Mr. Wen Guohui, Mayor of Guangzhou, visited the UAE and during the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of friendly exchange and cooperation relations between the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Guangzhou city was signed.
In 2024, an official delegation from the Government of Abu Dhabi led by H. E. Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport, visited Shenzhen, where a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of friendly exchange and cooperation relations between the two cities was signed.
In 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening friendly exchange and cooperation relations between the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and the Province of Guangdong was signed during the visit of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah to Guangdong Province.
Within the framework of the friendly relations, high-level delegations continue to exchange visits between the UAE and the Province of Guangdong, which contributed to strengthening and deepening bilateral relations in trade, economy, industry, science and technology, smart infrastructure and other fields.

Introduction to UAE-China commerce relations

Guangdong Province

- Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regions has made a fair contribution to the enhancement of UAE-China commerce relations. It is expected that at the end of 2019, trade volume between UAE and Guangxi Autonomous Region will have reached more than 0,35 billion US dollars.
- Since its founding, Consulate General of the UAE in Guangzhou has attached much importance to developing relations with provinces and autonomous region within its realm in sectors of economy, trade, investment, culture, consulate services and so on. In cultural sector, Consulate General has attended multiple celebrations, receptions and forums held in South China.
- Consul General has discussed cultural cooperation with Chinese officials and representatives in many different occasions.
