The Consul General of the UAE attends a conference on climate change at the University of Kurdistan – Erbil
His Excellency Ahmed Al Dhaheri, Consul General of the UAE, attended a conference on climate change, organized by the University of Kurdistan in Erbil. In the meetings that took place on the sidelines of the symposium, his happiness confirmed the UAE's intention to designate 2023 as the year of sustainability, coinciding with hosting the 28th edition of the United Nations Climate Conference.
At the beginning of the conference, a short film about the damages of climate change was shown, followed by an academic dialogue on the subject. Discussions focused on the negative repercussions of climate change in the Kurdistan Region and how to reduce them and the dissemination of awareness programs.
On the sidelines of the conference, His Excellency the Consul General of the UAE met a number of participating personalities, during which he affirmed the UAE's keenness to develop relations with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and to participate in research activities on issues of common interest, including the issue of climate change.
During the meetings, His Excellency reviewed the UAE's directions in keeping with the international efforts aimed at confronting the repercussions of climate change, including designating 2023 as the year of sustainability in the UAE, in parallel with the preparation to host the 28th edition of the United Nations Climate Conference, which reflects the methodology of the leadership of the state and the UAE society in preserving the environment and the sustainability of its resources.
