The United Arab Emirates participated prominently in the Athens Riviera Summit 2025, which brought together government officials, business leaders, and investors from around the world, reflecting the shared commitment of the UAE and the Hellenic Republic to advancing economic and investment cooperation.
As part of the summit’s program, H.E. Mohamed Abdulrahman Alhawi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Investment, took part in a session focused on economic and investment cooperation between the UAE and Greece. During the discussion, H.E. Alhawi highlighted the UAE’s competitive and flexible investment ecosystem and emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including innovation, renewable energy, logistics, tourism, and advanced manufacturing. The session also featured H.E. Harry Theoharis, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, and was moderated by international journalist and diplomatic correspondent Alexa Tsouli.
H.E. Dr. Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Hellenic Republic, also participated in the summit, where he underscored the depth of the strategic relationship between the two friendly countries and its continued growth across a wide range of sectors. He noted that the UAE and Greece share common aspirations in promoting investment, fostering innovation, and advancing sustainable development, paving the way for advanced economic partnerships that serve mutual interests and support shared prosperity. The summit featured extensive discussions on future opportunities for cooperation, particularly in the fields of investment, real estate, energy, and the digital economy.
On the sidelines of the summit, the UAE-Greece Business and Investment Roundtable was held through a joint organization by “Invest Emirates”, an initiative of the UAE Ministry of Investment, Enterprise Greece, and the Athens Riviera Forum, under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic.
The roundtable was co-chaired by H.E. Mohamed Abdulrahman Alhawi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Investment, and H.E. Harry Theoharis, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Openness of the Hellenic Republic. The event featured keynote remarks by H.E. Dr. Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the UAE to Greece; Dr. Marinos Giannopoulos, Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Greece; and Mr. Tareq Al Tayer, Director of Foreign Direct Investment at “Invest Emirates”.
Bringing together senior officials, decision-makers, and business representatives from both countries, the roundtable explored future opportunities for cooperation and ways to further strengthen bilateral economic and investment relations. Discussions reflected the growing depth of UAE-Greece ties and the shared commitment of both nations to promoting investment, economic diplomacy, and sustainable partnerships that support mutual growth and prosperity.
The UAE’s participation in the Athens Riviera Summit 2025 reflects its commitment to strengthening strategic international partnerships and enhancing economic and investment cooperation with Greece in support of sustainable development and shared prosperity for both countries.
