The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Palau have enjoyed strong and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level on October 16, 2009. Since then, bilateral ties have continued to grow through constructive cooperation across several sectors of mutual interest, particularly civil aviation, environmental protection, and renewable energy.
Both countries remain committed to further strengthening their bilateral relations and expanding cooperation through official visits and high-level engagements. Notable milestones include the visit of H.E. Surangel S. Whipps Jr., President of the Republic of Palau, to the United Arab Emirates in January 2023 to participate in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. During the visit, he met with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates; H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; and H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
In August 2023, H.E. Gustav N. Aitaro, Minister of State of the Republic of Palau, paid an official visit to the United Arab Emirates. The visit witnessed the initial signing of an Air Services Agreement between the two countries, marking another step forward in advancing bilateral cooperation.
