  • The cultural relations between the UAE and the Republic of Italy witnessed a remarkable development in the past period, especially through the exchange of high-level visits between the two countries. 

  • HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan - Minister of Foreign Affairs - visited the Italian city of Matera, which was chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2019, to participate in the 1 year to go to Expo 2020 Dubai countdown celebration. 

  • His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah visited the city of Turin to take part in the Sharjah Cultural Days events, during which the Emirate of Sharjah was chosen as guest of honor at the Turin International Book Fair. During the visit, His Highness was awarded the first joint honorary doctorate from the University of Torino and the Italian Politecnico De in the fields of urban and regional development in appreciation of his active role in the urban development of the Emirate of Sharjah, and a commitment to promoting integration between architecture and sustainable technology while taking into account the local culture. Further, the Italian version of His Highness' book "The Hadith of Memory" was launched. 

  • Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development visited the city of Venice, where her Excellency inaugurated the National Pavilion of the UAE entitled "Crossing" during the 58th session of the International Art Gallery at the "Biennale" of Venice. In addition, the first Italian cultural center in the region was established in Abu Dhabi in 2019, and the first Italian school will be inaugurated in Abu Dhabi by 2020.
