In partnership with The Conservancy Association, the UAE Consulate General in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region held seminars for more than 500 local students to learn about COP28 areas of focus and the UAE’s climate action, including the national drive to Net Zero by 2050 and investing in renewable energy projects in developing countries, followed by a competition for best environmental protection proposals. Winners of the competition were named “student ambassadors” and won the chance to attend COP28 in the UAE as NGO observers alongside delegates from The Conservancy Association.
During the prize presentation ceremony, UAE Consul General H.E. Sheikh Saoud Almualla presented certificates to participating students and delivered
opening remarks, in which he congratulated the winners & highlighted the UAE’s commitment to youth empowerment in tackling climate change. He also urged students to take collective action to protect the environment in the spirit of the Year of Sustainability.
