UAE Embassy in Costa Rica organizes two seminars on COP28

The UAE Embassy in San José, Costa Rica organized two introductory seminars on the subject of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which will take place at Expo City Dubai this November.

The seminars were attended by representatives of the Costa Rican government and parliament and non-governmental organizations working in the environmental and sustainability sectors.

The two seminars covered the objectives of COP28 and the UAE Presidency’s focus on mitigation, adaptation, management of loss and damage, and raising the necessary funds to combat climate change.

Her Excellency Rawdha Alotaiba, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Costa Rica, stressed the importance of COP28 and the UAE's commitment to climate action, pointing to the country's expanding use of clean energies.

Her Excellency stated that the UAE was the first country in the region to sign and ratify the Paris Agreement and announce a Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative.

Her Excellency emphasized that COP28 will focus on implementing climate commitments and pledges, working together to take concrete action, finding solutions to overcome challenges, and seizing opportunities to ensure a sustainable future for current and future generations.
