  • The UAE foreign policy, the approach of which was established by the founder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may his soul rest in peace” is characterized by wisdom and restraint, and is based on strong strategic rules represented to ensure its commitment to the Charter of the United Nations and its respect for international conventions and laws to establish relations with all the countries of the world on the basis of mutual respect.
  • As part of the UAE's interest in establishing diplomatic relations with Latin American countries, the UAE and the Republic of Chile established diplomatic relations in June of 1978. 
  • In 2006, a Chilean commercial office was opened in Dubai, and in April 2009 the first and only Chilean Embassy in the Gulf region was inaugurated in Abu Dhabi. For its part, the United Arab Emirates opened its Embassy in Santiago in June 2011. 
  • Both countries maintain an exceptional bilateral relationship with deep ties in the political, economic and cultural spheres.
