  • The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Kenya entertain strong bilateral ties which date back to time immemorial centuries ago when peoples of the two regions started trade contacts. In recent times.
  • diplomatic relations commenced in 1982 when Kenya opened its Embassy in the UAE which the latter reciprocated by establishing its embassy in Nairobi in 2012. 
  • In 1980 Kenyan late Kenyan president Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi made a state visit to the UAE. This was reciprocated by late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan founder of the UAE whose state visit to Kenyan was in 1984.
  • Since then, high profile visits between the countries, were the norm, where H.E former President Mwai Kibaki visited the UAE in 2011 and H.E Uhuru Kenyatta's state visit to the UAE was in 2014. In the year 2015, H.H Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs officially visited Kenya and this visit was a catalyst to advancing relations between the two countries.
  • The recent exchange of visits led to formation of Joint Commission of Cooperation between the two countries and signing of various agreements.
